Our Ministries
Abernethy Memorial United Method Church seeks to provide a welcoming and safe community where we worship God, grow disciples for Christ, and share God’s unconditional love with all people.
The Children’s Ministry is a vibrant part of our congregation. In addition to Sunday school, we offer Children’s Worship for younger children to learn about our worship service. We have monthly Kid’s Club where our children learn, sing, do crafts, eat, and pray together. Our children’s choir sings in worship and at College Pines Nursing Center. And each year we have special season activities. If you have children, please bring them to join the fun! We have several Sunday School opportunities for children. We have a nursery class for children 2 and younger. There is a class for kids ages 3 to 6. And there is another class for those 7 to 10. We have a youth group for Middle Schoolers and High Schoolers that meet at the same time.
Our Youth Ministry offers a monthly youth meeting for youth in 6th-12th grade. This meeting is filled with devotions; it combines science, the Bible, games and hands on activities, and food — of course! Our youth also enjoy trips to Bo’s, Christian concerts, snow tubing, and so much more.
Join adults in service at our church. We need your hands and feet to do God’s work. We also try and fellowship together at least once a month on a Senior Trip. We have gone to visit the Billy Graham Library. We have seen plays together and visited places like Mt. Airy and Lake Junaluska.
Music Ministers to the Soul. Our choir meets for rehearsal every Wednesday at 7:00 PM. We would love for new voices to join us! Do you have a special music gift you would like to share? Your gift could enrich our worship service.
